Dear colleagues,
we hope this message finds you well.
On behalf of the Organising Committee of the 11th All-European International Humanitarian and Refugee Law Moot Court Competition, we are pleased to invite your students to participate in the 11th All-European International Humanitarian and Refugee Law Moot Court Competition, which will take place at the Faculty of Law, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia, from 24 to 27 November 2026.
The competition is organised under the academic leadership of doc. dr. Maruša T. Veber, in cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Slovenia.
The Moot Court offers law students an opportunity to deepen their knowledge of international humanitarian law, refugee law and related fields through a combination of written advocacy and oral pleadings before experienced practitioners and academics.
Each university may nominate a team, consisting of two or three law students (Bachelor or Master level) and a coach and academic supervisor. Following the submission of written memoranda, the twelve highest-ranked teams will be invited to compete in the oral rounds in Ljubljana.
The key deadlines are:
- 31 July 2026 – Early bird application deadline
- 1 September 2026 – Final application deadline
- 10 September 2026 – Memorandum submission deadline.
Please find the Call for Applications attached.
Further information, including the application form, is available via webpage of the Institute for International Law and International Relations at: https://www.iilir-ljubljana.com/ihl-moot.
We would be grateful if you could share this opportunity with interested students and colleagues at your institution.
