Dear Partner,
A new year is upon us, and we wish you all the best both in your professional and in your private life!
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your cooperation during the last months. Further, we would like to provide some updates regarding the Swiss-European Mobility Programme, SEMP, as well as the nomination procedure for the 2023/24 term.
Nominations
We will now accept nominations for the fall semester 2023 and for students staying the whole academic year 2023/24.
We kindly ask you to nominate your students by 15 April 2023. Please nominate your student(s) by filling in the attached Excel form and sending it to incoming@int.uzh.ch. We will then contact your nominated student(s) directly with the application instructions. The application deadline for your student(s) is 30 April 2023. Should you need more time for the nominations, please let us know well in advance. Also, please find attached our newest fact sheet.
SEMP Scholarships
We are pleased to inform you that the Swiss Confederation will continue to award SEMP scholarships to both outgoing and incoming mobilities during the academic year 2023/24. We will once again be able to provide substantial financial support to your students choosing UZH as their exchange destination, granting them CHF 1’900 or CHF 2’200 per semester respectively.
However, considering expected budget cuts by our National Agency, we will regrettably be required to set new regulations to slightly restrict the number of recipients of SEMP scholarships. Unfortunately, this means that we will no longer be able to grant a SEMP scholarship to each and every student.
In light of the above, students who exceed the contractual exchange quota agreed upon in the latest IIA, or students who wish to extend their stay at UZH beyond their nomination, will no longer be considered for a SEMP scholarship. Students who receive another mobility grant (e.g. Erasmus+ international or Turing) will also not be eligible for a SEMP scholarship in the future. Furthermore, we cannot guarantee scholarships to students who hand in their application after the application deadline.
We will be able to provide an update on the situation, and information on whether we must extend the restrictions, by the end of the June 2023.
Please rest assured that all your students will receive the SEMP exchange student status with all the other benefits, nonetheless.
Very important: students joining our university in spring semester 2023 will not be affected by these restrictions.
Thank you for your understanding. We are looking forward to hosting your students at UZH.
Warm regards,
Ilaria Russo (Ms.)
