Model United Nations (MUN), or United Nations Simulation Exercises, is an international conference activity organized by universities or student associations, alongside the Study Programme.
During a simulation exercise, the student participants undertake the diplomatic representation of the Member States of the Organization, simulating the corresponding agenda and foreign policy. Each participant, depending on the UN body in which he/she is accredited, should negotiate with the representatives of the other states on issues of the agenda, so that they can draw up draft resolutions which, once voted, will be an official text of the United Nations (as part of the simulation). The simulations are conducted in English, since these conferences are international, with students from all over the world.
In recent years, the Faculty of Law of AUTH, has created a remarkable tradition of participation and distinction in many MUNs in Greece and abroad. Undergraduate, postgraduate students and doctoral candidates, interested in participating in the program, can contact the MUN Legal Team by e-mail (mun.auth.law@gmail.com) or on Facebook, or the Chair of the Department of International Studies Assistant Professor M. Sarigiannidis (ms@law.auth.gr).
