It is the largest and most widely recognized virtual trial competition in the field of EU Law (more than one hundred universities from across the globe participate in this Competition). It simulates the procedure of a preliminary ruling from the European Court of Justice and involves two stages. In the first stage, groups (of 3-4 persons each) participate with written submissions on both parties (applicant and defendant). In the second one, the 48 teams with the best performance in the first stage are invited to produce their arguments orally in one of the four Regional Finals, held in different European cities. The winning teams of the Regional Finals qualify for the big Final Stage, held in March of each year in Luxembourg, at the seat of the European Court of Justice. Students interested in participating in the Competition shall contact Professor Eugenia Sachpekidou (esax@law.auth.gr) or Assistant Professor Dimosthenis Lentzis (dlentzis@law.auth.gr). Very good knowledge of English is a prerequisite. Very good knowledge of French desirable.
