The course consists of three parts:
The first part includes introductory lessons on the principles of the comparative method, the nature and the practical scope of comparative law and, more specifically, its role in the enactment and implementation of rules of law on the national, international and European Union level.
The second part offers an examination of the general features of the major legal families, specifically the Roman-Germanic family on the one hand and the Anglo-American on the other. It will provide a thorough introduction to American law, as well as a presentation of the basic principles of Islamic law and its relationship with the Greek legal system.
In the third part, we shall attempt a comparative examination of the solutions provided by American, English, German and French law to specific legal issues and, more specifically, to the problem of redressing pure economic loss.Code: ER 013
