In an era of intense and manipulated normative preaching by governments, this course covers a variety of topics, ranging from principles and values of public international law to the contemporary international law agenda. The course is particularly concerned with the sources of international law, its subjects and the issue of state sovereignity, and it also devotes special attention to such controversial topics as the peaceful settlement of disputes, use of force between States, self-determination and the role of international organizations.
